Price guide to antique Sevres / Sevres Style Vases.
Sèvres was a popular factory for the commission and production of royal and diplomatic gifts, as well as for direct purchases by royal families and the aristocracy. Marie Antoinette was an early supporter, ordering vase garnitures, teawares and dinner-services.
In 1784 the queen ordered a sumptuous service decorated with roses, faux pearls and pansies in medallions, on a carmine ground. This was for use at Versailles. Upon its completion in May of that year it was given instead by Louis XVI to Gustav III as a diplomatic gift commemorating the Swedish king’s visit. Reference: Christie’s

Sevres Style Gilt and Polychrome Decorated Porcelain Floor Vase A. Neumann, 1888 The baluster body with scrolling acanthus leaf handles with blossom and grotesque lion mask terminals, the front side with a reserve depicting a classical male figure, an amorous nude woman and cupids beneath fig laden branches and floral garlands, the reverse side with a reserve depicting a bucolic village scene, against a cobalt ground. Height 43 1/2 inches (1.10 m).
Appears to be in generally good condition with the following noteworthy exceptions: There has been restoration and overpaint to both of the handles; there is a loss to a petal to the left facing blossom at the upper terminal of the left facing scroll handle and another (top) petal has been broken and reaffixed and is present; there is a chip loss to the reverse side of one of the petals on the reverse side of the right facing blossom; the other two blossoms appear to be in good condition; there has been a restoration to a break to the acanthus leaf tip end at the top tip end of the right facing scroll handle; there is an area of infilling along the underside of the top interior rim edge, now discolored, approximately the size of a quarter; wear to gilding, consistent with age, usage and handling; not black lighted, there is a circular wood “plate” affixed at the center of the mouth that prevents examination of the interior; it appears this urn was not designed to have a cover; uniform network of tight small crazing to the glaze; artist signed lower right and dated on the front side of the urn “A.
